The time of my life

The Barnyard Theatre presents Time Warp, an extravaganza loosely based on the Wizard of Oz.

THE Barnyard Theatre has pulled out all the stops to present Time Warp, which is undoubtedly one of the finest productions the Gateway venue has ever staged.

This extravaganza, which runs until 20 July, incorporates a super-talented cast, dynamic dancers, a clever script and Moulin Rouge-inspired set which all come together to offer a comprehensive sensory experience.

Loosely based on the Wizard Of Oz, Time Warp sees Dotty getting swept up by a twister and deposited on The Barnyard stage where she encounters the show’s narrator. This role is masterfully played by Andrew Webster who urges her to follow her dream of making it big in Hollywood. She doesn’t take much convincing, but to get there she has to travel down the yellow brick highway until she encounters the Wizard of Burlesque who will make her big time dream come true.

The storyline provides the hook for a line-up of instantly recognizable hits from Hollywood movies and Broadway musicals which are cleverly interwoven with iconic rock hits. This formula ensures that Time Warp provides a breath of fresh air to the usual musical compilation shows while retaining wide audience appeal.

Bookings can be made by calling the theatre on 031 566 3045, or visiting www.barnyardtheatres.co.za/gateway. Tickets are R145 a person from Wednesday to Saturday, with discounted specials of R110 a person every Tuesday night. Sunday is Family Day, with the matinee tickets just R100 a person.
