KZN Youth Orchestra performs
Celebrate Heritage Month with the KZN Youth Orchestra.
KZN province’s Youth Orchestra feature in two concerts this Heritage Month, where they focus on and celebrate South African Heritage.
Teaming up with students from Crawford’s Northcoast College and preparatory schools, they will present a fundraiser concert for the LIV choir. Proceeds of the evening will be donated to LIV, a holistic residential care facility for orphaned and vulnerable children, to enable their choir to attend a competition overseas.
Organised by Crawford music coordinator, Nina Watson, ‘Urban Pops celebrates Heritage Day’ is in its second year. It will be presented at the Sibaya theatre, on Tuesday 23 September at 6.30pm, and audience members will be entertained by the young stars in a tapestry of contemporary South African music, song and dance.
There will be a selection of Afrikaans songs, some Zulu and traditional African works including ‘Zebra Crossing’, ‘Pata Pata’ and ‘Siyahamba’ and there will be music from the pop and jazz genres too, including such evergreens as ‘Over the Rainbow’, ‘Sway’ , and ‘Take 5’.
