Durban laughs out loud

IT will be a weekend of hysterical laughter as the first ever I Laugh Durban comedy jam takes place at Sibaya's iZulu Theatre on 19 and 20 June at 8pm.

A kaleidoscope of local stand-up comedy talents from wild and exciting backgrounds will feature in a celebration of Durban and it’s crazy people.

Among the big hitters to appear are Dusty Rich, Neville Pillay and Richelieu Beaunoir, Trevor Gumbi and Jem Atkins, local lads who all played a huge role in putting the city on the comedy map.

Dusty Rich shot to stardom as part of comedy king Trevor Noah’s NationWild tour in which he had audiences spellbound with his wild, entertaining and often spontaneous routines. He recently headlined his own tv special on comedy central and there are a lot more big things to come from this Toti native.

Never afraid to venture into the audience, Dusty’s improvisational skills are second to none, making every show he performs in an experience never to be forgotten.

Neville Pillay is a veteran of the comedy circuit who has a huge following as the anchor on Lotus FM’s breakfast show.

Spontaneous and funny, Pillay offers unique insight into a number of current issues, often with a Durban Indian flavour.

Richelieu B is another Durban star making waves across the country. He will be hosting the comedy extravaganza bringing to the table razor sharp wit and a tendency to roast hecklers alive.

Trevor Gumbi is a South African superstar who has played locally and abroad and has featured prominently on television.

A host of other hilarious acts will also feature on the lineup.
