School hosts experimental festival

Students will discover and express their artistic intent as well as experiment with film, theatre and television craft techniques at a film festival.

AFDA, a film, television and performance school, will host its annual Experimental Festival at its Durban campus, 2a Highdale Road, Glen Anil, on Saturday, 20 June.

This year AFDA will exhibit over 51 new experimental films, broadcast seven new television shows, perform nine stage productions and seven musical productions.

“The experimental festival is a unique opportunity for third year students to discover and express their artistic intent as well as experiment with film, theatre and television craft techniques,” said Garth Holmes, co-founder and chairman of AFDA.

This year Durban hosts the experimental festival with its first group of third year students. Durban Dean, Franco Human, said: “There is great anticipation among the staff and students as we gear up to show the rest of South Africa how KZN students intend making their mark on the screens and stages of the future.”

Do not miss the AFDA experimental festival if you would like to see what the hot new talent of this country is producing.
