Kids talent competition finals at Essenwood market

TALENTED children will bring the cute-factor to Essenwood Craft Market this Saturday, 27 June in the finals of the Essenwood's Got Talent show at the market.

Essenwood Craft Market initiated the fun talent competition for the littlies since over the last two Saturdays, with the finals on 27 June.

The talent show was open to children from 3 to 5, then from 6 to 10 and from 11 to 13.

Should children want to sing, there are various songs on the playlist. Some of the popular options are Happy; All About the Bass and Frozen hits Snowman, Coronation Day and Let it Go!

“We want to ensure that the market’s focus is firmly family-friendly,” said the market’s, Cyan Brown, “We are situated in a park environment with a functioning play area which is perfect for children to run around. There are also creative projects for children to enjoy – sand-art; face-mask making; biscuit and cupcake icing; beading and crafts. To complement this, we have a shaded supervised play area for the little ones, free pony rides, and feature weekly child-focused activities – be it fire-engine rides; fair-ground attractions; face-painting and children’s games,” she said.

Historically, one of the attractions of Essenwood is the tea garden. Visitors can enjoy a leisurely meal in the shade of the enormous trees in the park alongside the children’s play area. There is a selection of at least a dozen brunch, tea-time and lunch options: Indonesian stir-fry; pancakes; homemade burgers; Durban Indian curries; boerewors and health rolls; and falafels – and of course teas; coffees; lattes; cappuccinos; cordials; iced coffees and chocolates; and vintage-era fresh minted lemonade.

Essenwood Market is pram and wheelchair friendly throughout and well behaved pets on a leash are welcome. Visitors parking is available in Essenwood, St Thomas, Berea Park and Sydenham Roads with car guards on site.
