Platter set to dish out judgement at this year’s curry cookoff

Author of the award winning and best selling Durban Curry will be a special guest at this year’s The Great Durban Curry Cookoff.

ERICA Platter, author of the award winning and best selling Durban Curry will be a special guest at this year’s The Great Durban Curry Cookoff which closes this year’s Good Food and Wine Show.

Platter revealed that she was quite surprised that her book had been received in such jubilant fashion by the judges explaining, “We did not think it stood a chance in the grand finals, for which 8 books were nominated, out of hundreds. The very fine, haute cuisine book from the top chef's school in Paris was judged Best Book of the Year, and Durban Curry took second place.”

Platter added that eight months after the release, the book had been sold out.

Platter said that she is extremely nervous about judging other people’s dishes at the competition, but encouraged contestants to read her book for ideas and advice to improve their dishes.The Great Big Durban Curry Cook Off takes place in the Celebrity Chefs Theatre on Sunday, November 1, at 3pm and features a curry mystery-box challenge between Jenny Morris and Rick Stein versus Reza Mahammad and MasterChef Australia winner Brent Owens. It’s a not-to-be-missed fun show with all proceeds raised going to charity.
