Berea ‘gals’ search for Mr Right in new comedy
Catch the hilarious new comedy show, Jamaican Coloured Gals at Sibaya's iZulu Theatre at the end of January.
SEE the funny side of many a woman’s often fruitless search for Mr Right in the upcoming comedy show, Jamaican Coloured Gals, which debuts at Sibaya’s iZulu Theatre at the end of the month.
The riotous comedy show promises to have audiences in stitches as an ensemble of hilariously bold comedians share anecdotes of their searches for what every woman wants but not everyone gets.
The play, written by Morningside theatre buff, Jayshree Parasuramen and Sudhir Kuldip is set in Durban at ‘Nancy’s Bar.’ The play tells the hilarious story of four coloured women who are searching for love in all the wrong places and with it comes loads of laughter and a bit of heartbreak.
Producer of the play, Parasuramen said there are social issues that are touched on, including sexual orientation awareness, HIV and abuse against women. “I believe these are issues that need to be addressed and what better way than to use the medium of comedy and drama to highlight them,” she said. While the play does have a few serious moments, Paasuramen promises, ” Durban can certainly expect loads of laughter and a few unexpected surprises and some cool dance moves too!”
Tickets cost R100 and are available at Computicket and the Sibaya Box Office. The show is at 8pm on Friday, 29 and Saturday, 30 January and starts at 3pm on Sunday, 31 January.
