Bow musicians take to the stage

Arcomusical will perform at a concert which is part of the opening of the 1st International Bow Music Conference at UKZN.

THE Centre for Jazz and Popular Music presents the Bow Music Jam led by Arcomusical on Wednesday 24 February at 6pm.

This concert is part of the opening of the 1st International Bow Music Conference taking place from 24 to 27 February at UKZN. Conference delegates and bow players will be coming from as far afield as Brazil, Germany, US, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Lesotho, and Swaziland.

Arcomusical is a multi-faceted resource for the Afro-Brazilian berimbau dedicated to performance, publication, research, and community building. The berimbau is one member of the “bow” family of musical instruments found all over the world. Arcomusical will make their appearance alongside other delegates who will be introducing their favourite bows in song. The Centre for Jazz and Popular music is at Level 2, Shepstone Building at UKZN Howard College Campus. Doors open at 5.30pm and the show starts at 6pm.
