Enjoy tales from Gcina’s travelling bag

Storyteller, Gcina Mhlophe will tell tales of her 33 years of travels at Rhumbelow Theatre on Sunday.

RHUMBELOW Theatre in Cunningham Road, Umbilo, presents Gcina Mhlophe in My Travelling Bag in this Sunday's Soiree Season show on 15 May at 2pm and 6.30pm.

From a very young age Gcina got to travel all over her home province, KZN, from her hometown Hammarsdale to Port Shepstone, to Dundee, to Nongoma, it all seemed like such faraway places, and she thought she was the most widely travelled young person ever.

“But my beloved grandmother – Gogo sounded a word of warning- 'There is a bigger world out there' , those were wise words indeed. How very prophetic too. In the past 33 years I have been blessed to travel the length and breadth of this amazing world. The number of suitcases I have bought, the stamps in my passports, amazing friendships. Oh the amazing experiences the countless the mementos and memories that fill my head like an enchanted African forest. The amazing theatres, long hours at international airports, delayed flights, the many cultures and frustrating times filled with fear and homesickness,” said Gcina.

Cost is R140 a ticket or R120 for pensioners and block bookings of eight or more.

Take food picnic baskets. The venue opens 90 minutes before for a picnic dinner. Braais will be available should you wish to cook some meat.
