In celebration of women
A Woman, A Hat, And Her Belly, a women's production, will be staged at the Jazzy Rainbow this weekend.

A WOMAN, A Hat, A Bag, And Her Belly will stage for the 4th time this August, as an annual Ebonygypsy Arts women’s production which celebrates women through multiple disciplines within the creative industry.
This production began its journey in 2012 when it showcased for the first time at the Catalina Theatre as a Durban based performance, featuring local women celebrating themselves and each other through music, poetry, and movement.
Over the years, it gradually incorporated other creative performance styles including drama, and comedy, as well as visual arts and an arts and crafts market.
Durban-based vocalist Simthandile Mtolo will keep the crowd entertained through her playfully sarcastic style of dialogue in song. Her repertoire promises a rich content of facts many would normally shy away from, but she manages to balance out her truth with a great sense of amity and the great skill of audience participation through multi-flavored local jazz sound and powerful imagery.
This show is all entertainment, and reaches out to an open-minded audience which wants to appreciate the women they have or are in this day in age.
There will be three shows at Jazzy Rainbow, 93 Simiso Nkwanyana Road, Morningside, on Saturday 6 August from 1pm to 3pm, 6pm to 8pm and Sunday 7 August from 3pm to 5pm.
Pre-sold tickets will go at R120. Contact ebonygypsyarts@gmail.com or 079 785 8570 and R150 at the door.
All tickets are inclusive of a complimentary drink.
