Don’t miss this jazz performance

Jazz singer, Lana Crowster will perform at The Centre for Jazz and Popular Music next week.

DON’T miss a performance by Cape Town-based singer and composer, Lana Crowster, at the Centre for Jazz and Popular Music on Wednesday 10 August at 6pm.

Lana’s love for jazz started when she was 15 years old when she joined The Artscape Youth Jazz Big Band. Under the tutelage of Dr Mike Rossi and Darryl Andrews, exposure to this art form inspired her to further her knowledge of jazz, bebop and swing in its entirety.

Academically, Lana holds a Bachelor of Music Degree in Jazz Vocal Performance as well as a Post-Graduate Diploma in Jazz Vocal Performance, which she achieved with distinction, from the University of Cape Town. Lana has worked as a lead vocalist in numerous jazz, pop and cover bands.

Lana has shared the stage and studio with many local and international artists including George Benson, with whom she performed at the 2010 Cape Town International Jazz Festival as part of his Tribute to Nat King Cole show. In 2011 Lana performed alongside Josh Groban on the Cape Town and Port Elizabeth legs of his sold out ‘Straight To You’ tour.

She will be joined on stage at the Centre for Jazby Burton Naidoo (piano/keys), Ildo Nandja (bass), Jude Kenrick (drums) and Phumlani Mtiti (alto sax).

Tickets are R60 for general admission, R40 for pensioners and R20 for students. Contact Thuli on 031 260 3385 or email Zamat1@ukzn.ac.za
