Concert features women musicians

Project offers a platform to inspire other Durban women musicians to share their skills and develop as collective musicians.

THE BAT Centre, in joint venture with Durban-based women musicians, will host a Women Power in Music concert on 20 August at 7pm.

The event will feature artists including the prolific sounds of Siphokazi Marhaqana, Xolisa Dlamini, Zoey the Seed, Nonhlanhla Wanda, Nomvula Munnie, Khombi Ziqubu, Nozuko Nguqu and Loretta. This year marks 60 years of women activism, and when African women were not allowed to participate, the most effective way to reinforce their message was through song. The aim of this project is to offer a platform and inspire other Durban women musicians to take charge in their productions, share their skills and develop as a collective musicians.

The BAT Centre has embarked on this project to allow experienced musicians to impart knowledge, techniques and share experiences and skills with young emerging artists. Thus ensuring development, growth and job creation within the community.

The BAT Centre is at 45 Maritime Place, Small Craft Harbour, Victoria Embankment.
