Bass guitars in the spotlight at annual Bass Day
Bass players will gather for the 2016 edition of annual Bass Day.
THE 2016 annual Bass Day, held on 29 October at Musketeers, the German Club in Westville, brings together bass players from all over the country for an event that will feature some of SA’s most celebrated bassists.
MCs for the evening are Glen Turrell (legend bass player), Paul Fuhri and T-Bone (DYR radio personality) and there will be a great line-up this year including Trevor Donjeany (Johnny Clegg's bassist), Philani Ngidi (Afro Divas bassist), Kevin Rengasamy (Kevolution), a hot bassist with a story from rags to music stardom, Dale Wardell (Habit To), Roberto Hemmero from Pietermaritzburg, Dalisu Ndlazi from Umlazi, Rick de Kock (Buckshot bassist), Fabian Mitchell (Police Band) a bassist from the Cape , Brayden Hore (bassist from 5th Season), Logan Byrne (bassist from Beat Route), Neil Ford (bassist from Templar Funk), Megan Axford, Tiaan Meyer and Reece Cooke, three upcoming students that will be performing a specially crafted piece by Shem Mahabeer and two new players, Gael Comarmond from Thomas Moore, and Sihle, a young girl student of Philani Ngidi.
Durban singer, Chloe Clark will perform with two double bass players accompanying her on a number – a bassist from Cape Town and Dalisu Ndlazi.
There will be the collective bass number at the end of the show with as many bass players as possible, this time it will be led by Trevor Donjeany with one of his compositions.
The event will be from 4pm. Entrance is R50 which includes a raffle ticket for some great prizes.
