The suspects was scheduled to appear in court on possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition charges, as well as assault with the intent to do grievous bodily harm.

“Our members were tracing a suspect wanted for a case of assault, among other crimes, and the investigation led them to informal settlement. On arrival they found a 26-year-old naked man inside his shack performing a ritual. They asked to search him and his shack, and made the discovery of illegal weapons,” said Motaung.

“Management at the station applauded the team members for their progress in fighting crime in the community, and urged members of the public to continue assisting the police with information. We are on a mission to reclaim the streets from criminals and the recovery of these illegal weapons is another major breakthrough which has most likely helped to save lives.”
