Two men are being sought by the Boksburg North police after they stole two firearms and other valuable items worth about R100 000 from an elderly couple’s home in Boksburg West on September 30.
It is understood the suspects got inside the house after they pretended to want to ask something from the 79-year-old man who was standing outside the gate with his helper.
According to Boksburg North police spokesperson Const Justice Ramaube, the wife, who was in the bedroom, saw firearms being pointed at her husband and helper inside the house.
“It is alleged the men demanded money and that’s when the wife gave them about R3 000, thinking they will leave once they got the money. However, the suspects demanded the keys to the safe and more money,” he said.
Ramaube said the husband gave the men the keys to the safe, where two firearms were found. The suspects allegedly took another undisclosed amount of cash from another safe.
The suspects allegedly hit the man with a pistol on his head and stabbed the helper on her buttocks.
The suspects tied up the victims and then fled the scene in the couple’s white Honda Jazz.
The stolen items include two iPhones, a plasma TV, cellphones, HP laptop, rings, watches, a camera and the vehicle.
The police are urging anyone with information that can lead to the arrest of the suspects to call 08600 10111 or 071 6756 986.
