MMC Mpya embarks on door-to-door title deeds handover campaign

The City has embarked on a mission to deliver over 13 000 uncollected title deeds.

The City of Ekurhuleni is now delivering unclaimed RDP title deeds at the doorstep of their rightful beneficiaries.

According to metro spokesperson Zweli Dlamini, this is in response to some tile deeds remaining unclaimed after beneficiaries were invited to collect them at their respective customer care centres.

MMC for human settlements Lesiba Mpya is leading the door-to-door community visits to drop off the title deeds.
“We have about 13 000 title deeds in our possession and we have assigned youth brigades to go door to door and locate the house numbers to hand over the title deeds,” Mpya said in a statement.

The field workers have been locating the rightful beneficiaries due to unresolved deceased estates, untraceable beneficiaries, informal/illegal sale of RDPs, and the discrepancy between current occupants and owners.
The City of Ekurhuleni urges all beneficiaries of unclaimed title deeds to be on the lookout for the title deeds from field workers.

Since the beginning of the title deeds’ door-to-door campaign, the brigades have visited 15 342 houses across the City and have managed to distribute 3 184 title deeds.
