MMC for health and social services Nomadlozi Nkosi called on residents of the City to enquire about the social work packages available to aid the vulnerable members of the community.
Residents may walk in at any social worker’s office at their customer care 0centre (CCC). After their interview with a social worker, they will be linked to the relevant packages based on their needs.

“Ekurhuleni residents should not suffer in silence or resort to use of any underhand healthcare service that might be harmful,” said Nkosi.
“The City has a fully functional social services package that includes poverty alleviation and indigent programme.
“Our doors are open at every CCC with a dedicated team of social workers and health professionals who are there to assist residents,” said Nkosi.
Some of the available social services include:
• Referral of qualifying clients to the indigent management programme to access free electricity, water and municipal services for social relief.
• Food security programme through the Food Bank and Homestead Garden Project.
• Facilitation of applications for Grant-in-Aid funding to uplift and develop cooperatives and NPOs.
