Update: Ward 43 residents heeded the call to register
The IEC has recorded that about 17 423 people in Ward 43 are registered to vote for their new councillor during next month’s by-election.
During the past weekend, a total of 194 residents of Ward 43 have registered to vote in the upcoming by-elections scheduled to take place on May 19.
The voter registration for Ward 43 was held at various venues across Ward 43 on April 10 and 11.
The Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) has provided stats indicating how many people registered.
• Falcon Educational School- 26
• Sunward Recreational Park- 10
• God with us Ministries- 39
• Sunward Park High School- 37
• Freeway Park Primary School- 30
• Kingdom Wealth Property- 23
• Living Waters Multipurpose- 29.
The IEC has recorded that about 17 423 people in Ward 43 are registered to vote.
Ward 43 consists of areas such as Sunward Park, Freeway Park, Klipoortjie, Groeneweide, Windmill Park and Dawn Park.
The ward was previously represented by the DA. The ward’s seat became vacant as a result of the death of its former councillor, Bruce Reid.
