#WinterWoolDrive: 93-year-old continues to make a difference

The 93-year-old Daphne Braaf once again made a generous donation that will bring warmth to the needy in the community this winter.

Morgan Ridge resident Noleen Braaf handed over a bag full of beanies and snoods to the Advertiser on behalf of her mother.

Daphne was assisted in her knitting efforts by her son, Mike, this year.

The proud daughter explained that the avid knitter, who lives in Dayanglen, has knitted over 700 items over the past three years with the help of her friend, Marcie Fayers, and her son.

“We saw the appeal for wool in the newspaper. We’re blessed in so many ways and wanted to give back to the less fortunate. My mother is such an inspiration for many people, young and old,” said Mike.

The Advertiser wishes to thank Braaf for her generous contribution.

All donations of wool and knitting needles will go to old-age homes and other community members interested in knitting squares, which can be sewn into blankets or knit beanies, gloves, scarves and the like for distribution to those in need this winter.
