There was yet another postponement to the trial of Mozambican national Mario Kumbe, who faces a charge of attempted murder.
His trial was scheduled to start in the Boksburg Magistrate’s Court on October 27, but due to the unavailability of an interpreter and the appointment of a new prosecutor in order to allow her to carry out consultations with witnesses, it was postponed to December 13.
On August 25, it was also postponed due to the unavailability of the accused’s lawyer and an interpreter.
Kumbe is accused of assaulting a 52-year-old man with a claw hammer on June 9 while the two were in a vehicle driving along Pretoria Road.
Kumbe pleaded not guilty to an attempted murder charge on June 10.
