The City of Ekurhuleni has announced its library services will now be available to users on weekends.
The extended library services will be offered every second Saturday of each month.
According to metro spokesperson Zweli Dlamini, this came after the metro received several requests about opening libraries on Saturdays.
“We are pleased to inform the public that the library doors will now be open on Saturdays from 8:00 – 13:00,” said Karin Muller, the head of libraries and information services in the city.
Muller stated although the opening is once a month, it is a great start to provide a better and satisfactory service to Ekurhuleni residents.
Communities are urged to continue using library facilities, and parents are urged to register their children as library patrons – and take advantage of the children’s section and instil a culture of reading from an early age.
For more information about any library service, contact your nearest library facility or email info.libraries@ekurhuleni.gov.za
