Fire leaves twenty-five families stranded

The families lost all their belongings in the fire.

Twenty-five families lost their homes due to a fire that was caused by a paraffin primus stove, at Angelo informal settlement on September 30.

According to a community leader of Angelo, Sylvia Letsoalo, the fire started around 21:30.

“The fire started in one shack and was exacerbated by a gas stove cylinder that was in a neighbouring shack. It utterly destroyed the belongings of 25 families in the process and injured one person,” she explained.

She added that all the families have found temporal safe-havens.

The Boksburg Advertiser has sent an enquiry about the fire incident to the City of Ekurhuleni’s Disaster Emergency Management Services Department and is waiting for a response.

Any good Samaritan that is willing to help the families may contact Letsoala, on 072 105 2328.
