Local golfer Keown Botha scored two-under to win the fifth annual Big 5 South Africa Open’s boys’ U8 category by three strokes at the Magaliesburg Golf Resort from March 25 to 27.

Local golfer Keown Botha scored two-under to win the fifth annual Big 5 South Africa Open’s boys’ U8 category by three strokes at the Magaliesburg Golf Resort from March 25 to 27.
The Rynfield resident scored 36 points in round one, finished the second round with 32 points and ended round three with 38 points to conclude the tournament on 106 strokes, three lower than second-placed MC Fourie, who scored one-over par and 109 strokes.

Kian Adonis completed the top three on four-over.
The tournament featured different age groups from boys six and under to U15 to U18 and girls eight and under to U15 to U18.
The three-day event is recognised by the World Amateur Golf Rankings and Junior Golf Scoreboard. It offers the players an opportunity to earn the US Kids Golf Priority Status, which can qualify them for US Kids Major Championships including regional, international and world or world teen championships.
