Boksburg North Clinic honoured as Best in Ekurhuleni for HIV case finding
The achievement was recognised by Wits Reproductive Health and HIV Institute (Wits RHI) in partnership with the Gauteng Department of Health.
Boksburg North Clinic has recently been awarded first place for the best yield and case finding among 90 clinics in Ekurhuleni.
The achievement was recognised by Wits Reproductive Health and HIV Institute (Wits RHI) in partnership with the Gauteng Department of Health.
According to Nwabisa Dondolo, a data capturer from Wits RHI who works at the clinic, the accolades highlight the clinic’s outstanding performance and commitment to HIV treatment and awareness.
“We were recognised for capturing the highest number of positive HIV patients who initiated treatment for the first time.
“By 2030, it’s crucial that everyone knows their status and we’re committed to ensuring our patients understand their health and begin treatment promptly,” Dondolo explained.

She emphasised that the clinic’s success stems from a comprehensive approach, where patients are tested by counsellors, referred to sister nurses for support and captured by the data capturers.
“I believe this achievement would not have been possible without our dedicated counsellors and staff working together,” she said.
“This isn’t the first time Boksburg North Clinic has been acknowledged for its efforts; we also received an award in the same category last year, underscoring their consistent dedication to public health,” she added.
Facility manager Sandra Mufamadi expressed her gratitude for the team’s hard work, especially given the challenges of being short-staffed.
“I am grateful for their hard work even under the circumstances of being short-staffed, and for their outstanding performance,” Mufamadi stated.
“The recognition serves as proof of the clinic’s commitment to improving healthcare outcomes in the community and reinforces the importance of continued efforts in HIV awareness and treatment,” said Mufamadi.
