The Boksburg Sphinx Moth Shellhole is looking for more war veterans and friends to help keep veterans’ stories alive.
The Sphinx Shellhole is one of Boksburg’s oldest organisations and was formed in June 1973.
The organisation presently has 22 active members, and to try to keep the veterans’ stories alive in the modern world, the Moth Shellhole is on a mission to recruit more members.
The Memorable Order of Tin Hats is a SA organisation of former soldiers, services and their families that aims to help comrades in need and honour those who served in the wars one way or the other.
The members meet on the first Saturday of each month in the evening, except for January, to share war stories and remember those who served and lost their lives.

The organisation’s adjutant, Mo Jenkin, said now that most veterans are passing, it was even more important to share their war stories.
To become a member of the Moth, you must be a former member of the SA security forces and have served during specific periods, primarily relating to the SA Border War or the State of Emergency. However, if you do not qualify, you can join as a Shellhole supporter or friend.
