A group of talented rugby players from Boksburg Youth Rugby Club is preparing for the journey of a lifetime.
Eighteen players from the U11 and U12 squads will travel to Japan to play in a prestigious international rugby tournament in October 2025.
The opportunity will see them competing against teams from Japan, Australia, and New Zealand from October 3 to October 13.
Cherice Minnaar, chairperson of Boksburg Youth Rugby Club, shared her excitement about the upcoming tour.
“This is a fantastic opportunity for our team to compete against top-tier opposition and gain international experience.
“We are confident this tour will elevate our players’ skills, strengthen our team’s bond and inspire a new generation of rugby players.”
Minnaar said the tournament promises more than just a platform for athletic competition; it is also a cultural exchange that will allow the young athletes to immerse themselves in Japanese culture.
“From learning from world-class coaches to playing alongside talented peers from different backgrounds, the experience will be enriching and unforgettable.”

Minnaar said the team is leaving no stone unturned in their preparations.
“Training sessions are rigorous, designed to ensure the players are ready to compete at the highest level.
“Beyond the field, the club and the players’ families are engaged in extensive fundraising efforts to cover travel and participation costs.
“Our players are determined to represent the club, their community, and their country with pride and passion.
“This experience will provide them with invaluable exposure to a higher level of rugby, and it is heart-warming to see the dedication they put into every aspect of their journey.”
