Police on the lookout for remaining Jet Park robbery suspects
A shootout between security officers and robbers ensued when the officers responded to a robbery.
Police continue to track down the remaining suspects involved in a robbery at a Jet Park business yesterday (January 22).
Colonel Mack Mngomezulu, station commander at Boksburg North SAPS, explained a white Kia bakkie with a canopy entered the premises of Heneways Freight Services at about 10:30.
“One of the suspects approached a security guard and asked for water. About 20 more suspects then got out the back of the bakkie and the security guard was held at gunpoint.
“The suspects entered the office and stole cellphones and laptops before going to the warehouse. They tied staff up and robbed them of personal belongings.
“An employee in the office alerted armed response. The robbers fled when the armed response team (Legendary Guardians Exclusive Protection) arrived.
“The suspects split up. Some of them shot at the armed response team, who returned fire.”
Seven suspects were arrested, four of whom, including the driver of the bakkie, were shot and injured and one was shot dead near at the railway line between Elandsfontein and Bedfordview.

Mngomezulu said the Kia bakkie and three firearms were recovered.
Clinton Festraets, owner of Legendary Guardians Exclusive Protection, said they responded swiftly after a report of multiple suspects and shots fired was received.
“Our officers shot out the tyres of the Kia bakkie, forcing the suspects to abandon the vehicle and scatter. The pursuit continued as the suspects fled onto nearby railway tracks. Legendary Guardians and Night Guard worked tirelessly to apprehend more suspects.”
Police are investigating cases of business robbery, attempted murder and possession of unlicenced firearms and ammunition.
Anybody with information about the suspects should contact Boksburg North Police Station on 011 960 0100 or Crime Stop on 08600 10111.
