Investigation launched after crash involving Boksburg North SAPS vehicle

The occupants of both vehicles escaped unhurt.

A case of reckless and negligent driving was opened after a crash involving a Boksburg North SAPS police van and a VW Caddy on Eighth Street yesterday evening (January 17).

According to Boksburg North SAPS station commander Colonel Mack Mngomezulu, the marked police van was rear-ended while on duty officers were driving along the area at about 19:00. The officers in the police van and the occupants of the VW Caddy suffered no injuries.

The VW Caddy was badly damaged in the accident.

“Investigations will reveal who was at fault,” said the station commander.

Mngomezulu mentioned that a tow truck took the van back to the police station, but could not confirm whether the vehicle is a write-off.
