Boksburg Athletic Club shines at Benoni Northerns race day
Boksburg athletes showcased both depth and determination, with over 50 members participating.
Members of the Boksburg Athletic Club turned out in full force on April 13 to support the Benoni Northerns Athletic Club’s popular annual race.
With over a thousand runners competing across the 5km, 10km road race and walk, 21km, 42km, and 48km distances. Boksburg athletes showcased both depth and determination, with over 50 members participating.
Top three finishers – Ultra challenge (48km)
Men:
Justin Dunn powered through the ultra-marathon, finishing in 03:55:51. He placed 78th overall out of 938 runners, 30th in his category (216 runners), and 75th among 741 male runners.
Joseph Tshabalala delivered a strong run with a time of 03:58:02, securing 84th overall, an impressive 6th in his category (151 runners), and 79th in gender.
Vincent de Reuck crossed the line in 04:08:50, placing 124th overall, 60th in category, and 116th among male runners.
Women:
Sheree Rogers showed endurance and consistency, finishing in 04:18:47. She ranked 167th overall, an excellent 5th in her category (98 runners), and 12th out of 197 women.
Larissa Donker followed with a time of 04:43:45, placing 289th overall, 4th in her category (36 runners), and 32nd in gender.

Top three-Marathon (42km)
Men:
Dieter Muller led the way with an outstanding finish of 03:15:12, placing 40th overall out of 1006 runners. He also secured 3rd in his age group (201 runners) and 40th among 794 male runners.
Wynand Strydom clocked in at 03:24:59, earning 55th overall, 7th in his category, and 54th in gender.
Lambertus Nienaber completed the race in 03:38:16, finishing 89th overall, 30th in category, and 84th among men.
Women:
Jay Hunkin was a standout performer, finishing in 03:57:11, placing 174th overall, 11th among 212 women, and 6th in her category.
Isabel Dicks completed the marathon in 04:14:38, ranking 30th in the women’s field, 14th in the category, and 295th overall.
Half Marathon (21km)
Men:
Divan De Gouveia ran a solid 01:50:14, finishing 114th overall, 44th in category, and 90th among men. Mpho Mnyembane followed with 01:56:54, placing 168th overall, 33rd in category, and 134th in gender.
Women:
Bronwyn Strydom finished strong in 01:55:53, placing 160th overall, 13th in her category, and 34th in the women’s division. Suzette De Gouveia came in at 02:01:06, taking 22nd in category and 45th among women. Lisa Mncube finished in 02:18:48, placing 35th in her category and 115th in gender.
