Swimmer grabs two medals in Belarus
The Farrarmere Primary alumnus grabbed a silver in the 800m race, touching the wall in a lifetime best of 08:54.03.
Rynfield swimming sensation Scarlett le Roux helped Team South Africa to six medals while also setting new lifetime bests in three events at the Belarus Swimming Cup.
The event, held at the Republican Centre of Olympic Reserve for Water Sports in Minsk from November 20 to 23, attracted around 500 swimmers representing 11 nations.

The 17-year-old swimmer raised the country’s flag, collecting two of South Africa’s six medals while narrowly missing a podium in one event.
She finished third in the 400m freestyle in 04:18.33, earning a bronze and setting a new personal best.
The Farrarmere Primary alumnus grabbed a silver in the 800m race, touching the wall in a lifetime best of 08:54.03.
Le Roux, trained by Shirley Leech at Ashton International College, then finished just outside the top three in the 200m freestyle, touching the wall in a new personal best of 02:02.33 for fourth place.
This was a strong end to the year for the swimmer, following an 11-medal haul at the 16th African Junior Swimming Championships in Egypt in May and captaining South Africa to 84 medals at the 20th Africa Aquatics Zone IV Swimming and Open Water Championships in Namibia.
Other Results
Matthew Caldwell led the South African charge in Belarus with three bronze medals in the 400m freestyle, 1 500m freestyle, and 800m freestyle. Caldwell clocked 03:46.3 in the 400m, touched the wall in 14:59.16 for third in the gruelling 1 500m, and finished the 800m in 07:54.97, also for third place.
Jessica Thompson also grabbed a bronze in the 50m freestyle after finishing in 24.75 seconds.
There were standout performances from Jarden Eaton, who clocked personal bests in the 100m fly (52.29), 200m fly (01:58.1 for fourth place), and 50m fly (23.82 seconds).
Thompson was fourth in both the 50m fly final (26 seconds) and 50m backstroke final (26.99). Caldwell finished eighth in the 100m freestyle final in 49.90, while the 4x50m relay team came in fifth place.
