Dawn Park SAPS mobilises community against GBV
Dawn Park SAPS, together with the Youth Desk and CPF, took to the streets to raise awareness about GBV.
In observance of the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence and Women Abuse, Dawn Park SAPS recently held a community awareness campaign in the area.
Spokesperson of the police station, Sergeant Nkemeleng Mabula, said the initiative aimed to engage local residents, raise awareness about GBV, and encourage the reporting of suspicious or criminal activity within the community.
“Officers from the Dawn Park SAPS, including members of the Youth Desk and the CPF, distributed around 350 informational pamphlets to residents, local businesses, and at Villa Liza Clinic.
“The goal of today’s campaign is to empower the community to take a stand against gender-based violence.
“We want residents to know that preventing GBV is a collective responsibility, and the police are here to support them. Working together, we can create a safer environment for everyone.”
The campaign highlighted the vital role of community involvement in preventing GBV.
Mabula said residents were urged to collaborate with SAPS to ensure safety and support victims of abuse.
