Dawn Park Police recover firearms

The Dawn Park Police continue to urge residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities promptly to aid in the ongoing efforts to combat crime and maintain public safety.

Dawn Park Police recently recovered firearms and ammunition following a tip-off from community members.

According to the spokesperson of the police station, Sergeant Nkemeleng Mabula, during a routine patrol in Dawn Park on May 31 crime prevention officers encountered a group of suspicious individuals, leading to a search that uncovered a firearm in the possession of one of the men.

Mabula said on June 1 that while police were patrolling, a tip-off was received from community members about a vehicle parked at a tavern in Mapleton whose occupants were in possession of a firearm.

“Officers conducted a thorough search of the vehicle and found a firearm and a magazine, four live ammunition rounds and a firearm with a filed-off serial number.”
