Dawn Park Police recently recovered firearms and ammunition following a tip-off from community members.
According to the spokesperson of the police station, Sergeant Nkemeleng Mabula, during a routine patrol in Dawn Park on May 31 crime prevention officers encountered a group of suspicious individuals, leading to a search that uncovered a firearm in the possession of one of the men.
Mabula said on June 1 that while police were patrolling, a tip-off was received from community members about a vehicle parked at a tavern in Mapleton whose occupants were in possession of a firearm.
“Officers conducted a thorough search of the vehicle and found a firearm and a magazine, four live ammunition rounds and a firearm with a filed-off serial number.”
