Have your say at Reiger Park crime imbizo with top cops in attendance
With violent crime happening in the area, Reiger Park SAPS will be hosting a community meeting to listen to residents’ concerns, provide updates on investigations, and co-develop solutions.
Reiger Park residents are invited to a crime imbizo at Victory Tabernacle Church on January 30 at 10:00.
It will be hosted by Reiger Park SAPS with the Gauteng Provincial SAPS Commissioner Lieutenant General Tommy Mthombeni and Reiger Park station commander Lieutenant Colonel Lionel Chetty in attendance.
The event forms part of ongoing efforts to strengthen communication and co-operation between law enforcement and the community. Reiger Park SAPS spokesperson Constable Johannes Msimanga said this is a vital platform for residents to voice their concerns while allowing police to outline the steps being taken to improve safety.

“It is an opportunity to build trust, identify problem areas, and work together on solutions.
“The meeting will focus on issues including gang violence, drug-related crime, and youth involvement in criminal activity, as well as ways residents can participate in initiatives such as community patrols and neighbourhood watches.”
Msimanga emphasised that the success of the imbizo depends on active community participation.
“This is not just a discussion; it is about action. Police cannot fight crime alone. The community’s input is crucial to ensure we address the real issues affecting their safety,” he said.
Local resident Thabo Mokoena welcomed the announcement, expressing hope that the meeting would lead to tangible results.
“We have been living in fear for too long. This imbizo provides us a chance to speak directly to the police, share our experiences, and make sure our voices are heard. We want to see real action, not just promises,” he said.
