Residents of Benoni and Boksburg are being urged to prepare for possible water disruptions as Rand Water undertakes planned maintenance between May 29 and July 19.
According to the City of Ekurhuleni, the maintenance programme may result in periods of intermittent water supply and reduced water pressure, with water restoration expected to happen gradually once work has been completed.
Several areas in Benoni and Boksburg are expected to be affected.

The planned maintenance schedule affecting these communities includes:
• May 29 from 07:00 to 19:00 (12 hours): Eskom maintenance work at the Zuikerbosch and Palmiet pump stations.
• May 29 from 07:00 to May 30 at 18:00 (23 hours): Replacement of a valve and thrust bearing at Vereeniging.
• July 17 from 07:00 to 19:00 (12 hours): Eskom maintenance work at Zuikerbosch.
The CoE will ensure that water tankers are deployed where necessary, with details of tanker locations to be communicated closer to the time through municipal communication platforms.
Residents and businesses are being encouraged to prepare ahead of the planned maintenance by storing water for essential use and limiting non-essential consumption, including irrigation, car washing and topping up swimming pools.
“Water supply will be restored gradually after completion of the maintenance as the supply system takes time to accumulate adequate pressure,” said CoE spokesperson, Zweli Dlamini.
“Some areas, particularly higher-lying communities, could experience delays before water pressure returns to normal.”
