Karateka grab medals at tournament

The three karateka collected a combine five medals in the competition.

Lotus Karate Club instructor sensei Raveen Dayaram congratulated his students for their efforts during the Lenasia South Shotokan Karate Academy annual karate tournament at Lenasia South Civic Centre on May 30.

The Parkrand club was represented by three karateka and they collected a combined five medals, two golds, two silvers a bronze.

Rueben Georgeson and Precious Tshazi led the charge with Gerogeson claiming a gold kata and silver in kumite, while Tshazi grabbed a gold in kumite and silver in kata.

Zaniqua Joyce added a bronze in kata to the team’s success.

“Thanks to all my students for all their hard work and effort they put into this tournament. It was a lot of work from everyone, especially our Karateka,” he said.

“I am extremely proud of them. They were brave to go out there and do what they did, and they did it extremely well.”
