Case continues against officers accused of stealing cables

The case was postponed for further investigation.

The two Boksburg North police officers arrested for an incident involving cable theft from a Boksburg North scrapyard are expected back at the Boksburg Magistrate’s Court on June 2.

Sergeants Pretty Ndlovu and Hlengane appeared in court on April 19. The case was postponed for further investigation.

They face charges of copper theft, defeating the ends of justice and common robbery.

The two allegedly forced their way into the premises and robbed the owner of the cables.

They were arrested at work on February 1 by the Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID) and each was granted R3 000 bail.

It is understood the officers have been officially suspended, however, the Advertiser is still awaiting confirmation from the police.
