Bank client robbed of large sum of money while waiting in FNB bank queue

The victim was apparently a 67-year-old man who had travelled from Germiston.

A client was reportedly robbed of a substantial amount of money while sitting in a bank on North Rand Road this afternoon.

While no official confirmation has been forthcoming from police, Boksburg Advertiser was on the scene and spoke to a well-placed source.

The victim was apparently a 67-year-old man who had travelled from Germiston to deposit money.

He was seated on a couch waiting for his turn to the next available teller when two men came into the bank and one of them grabbed the bag containing the money from him before they both exited the premises.

The victim apparently tried to follow the robbers and one of the robbers fired two shots at him.

No injuries were reported.

Police and a private security firm responded to the robbery.

It’s suspected that the pair had followed the victim to the bank. They are still at large.
