Five arrested after police find illegal firearm in car

Boksburg North SAPS and the Ekurhuleni Flying Squad apprehended five suspects on Pretoria Road, Witfield, on March 11 in connection with an illegal firearm.

According to Boksburg North SAPS acting spokesperson Constable Khakhathi Siphoro, police were conducting a routine patrol that afternoon when they spotted two suspicious-looking vehicles travelling together.

The BMW and bakkie were both stopped and searched.

A firearm with the serial number filed off was recovered in one of the vehicles. All suspects were placed under arrest.

Investigations continue.
