This Ramaphosa man on the Reiger Park police’s most wanted list was nabbed, and an unlicensed firearm and ammunition was found in his possession, according to police.
A 26-year-old man, who is on the Reiger Park SAPS’ most wanted list, has been arrested at his home on January 9.
According to the police he was packing his clothes to apparently evade arrest.
Reiger Park SAPS spokesperson, Constable Johannes Msimanga, said the suspect was arrested at his home in Ramaphosa.
The ‘breakthrough’ came after police received intelligence reports that the suspect was at his place packing his clothes with the intention of relocating to Windmill Park.
A task team, comprising of various police units at the station, was formed and it descended on the address where the man was found in his room packing clothes in a bag.
“The suspect was found in possession of an unlicensed Vektor 9mm pistol (with its serial number filed off), nine live rounds of ammunition, and one magazine.
“He led police to another address in Windmill Park, where a 9mm pellet gun was found in his rented room.”
The suspect had an unlicensed firearm and ammunition in his possession.
The man is believed to be behind the December 30 cold-blooded murder of a man in Erica Street, Reiger Park. He is also accused of an armed robbery that happened in the township around November, last year.
Police believe that the recovered firearm was used in previous criminal activities.
The suspect is scheduled to appear in the Boksburg Magistrate’s Court soon, and police believe they have a strong case against him. He will be charged with murder, armed robbery, illegal possession of firearms and ammunition, and more charges could be added.
