Stabbed man dies at ‘dangerous’ intersection

The man could not yet be identified because he had no belongings on his person.

A man was fatally stabbed on the corner of Main Reef and Rietfontein roads on the afternoon of March 1.

While information remains sketchy, a well-placed source said the police responded to a call about a man lying on the ground with stab wounds to his chest and head.

The source told the Boksburg Advertiser that it appeared the man was robbed because he had nothing on him.

According to a petrol attendant on duty, he saw police vehicles at the scene at about 13:00.

“I saw a bag covering the person’s body. Later on, people told me a man was stabbed and his belongings taken. Law enforcement was on the scene for hours,” said the source, who added that the stabbing happened in a dangerous area.

“People that cross regularly are targeted and sometimes in broad daylight. Criminals also exploit the traffic lights and streetlights that do not work. I hope the police do something. It will help clean up the area so criminals have nowhere to hide,” he said.

Boksburg North SAPS spokesperson Constable Khakhathi Siphoro confirmed the stabbing and will provide more information as it becomes available.
