“He was a good man, not a fighter.”
These are the words of Andries Anderson, the uncle of Brandon Pretorius (28), a young father from Jansen Park who today (May 6) succumbed to injuries sustained in an assault on April 26.
It is understood that the assault stemmed from an incident at the Malbroer pub and grill on North Rand Road in the early hours of April 26.
Pretorius sustained serious injuries in a reported assault outside Malbroer. His attackers allegedly followed him on his way home and further assaulted him.
Anderson said the family was devastated and hoped Pretorius would recover.
“He was unresponsive and on life support, but we still hoped for the best.”
According to Anderson, Pretorius worked for a panel beater in Edenvale and was a family man. He is survived by his fiancée, daughter (one), family and friends.
Details of a memorial service have not yet been released.
According to Anderson, there were no arrests made.
The Boksburg Advertiser still awaits comment from the police and tried to get comment from Malbroer, but the calls went unanswered.
Meanwhile, tributes poured in for Pretorius on the Boksburg Community Group Facebook page:
