Two women briefly appeared in the Boksburg Magistrate’s Court today (September 21) following their arrest in connection of the murder of Jabulile Ntimba.

They face charges of premeditated murder and defeating the ends of justice.

Ntimba’s body was discovered in an open veld next to the road in Villa Liza Extension 4 on the morning of September 17.

The two women and a man were arrested by members of the Gauteng Murder and Robbery Unit over the weekend, however, only the women appeared in the dock.

According to the State, the matter of involving the male suspect has not yet been enrolled.

Proceedings were temporarily delayed to argue applications submitted by various media houses to broadcast and photograph the accused.

The State argued that by revealing footage of the accused could jeopardise ongoing investigations into the matter, however did not oppose the accused being photographed from behind.

The defence stated the applications infringed on the accused’s right to dignity, and as mothers, that too of their families.

Applications were, however, approved for the media under strict conditions.

Communicating through a translator in Swati, the accused were informed of the court’s decision.

Formal bail applications on behalf of the two women are expected to be heard on October 1, with both being remanded in police custody.

Earlier in the day, Deputy National Commissioner for Policing Lieutenant General Tebello Mosikili confirmed that Ntimba’s death murder could be linked to a love triangle, whereas the other eight murder cases involving women have not been linked to a serial killer.

Investigations into all the cases are continuing.
