Fire at substation leaves several areas without power

While there is no confirmed restoration time yet, the ward councillor say efforts are under way to restore electricity.

A fire that reportedly broke out at the substation on Paul Smit Street in Anderbolt in the early hours of January 12 left parts of Boksburg without electricity.

Affected areas include Boksburg North, Ravenswood, Eveleigh, as well as parts of Beyers Park and Anderbolt.

According to Ward 22 Clr Madelaine Muller, a team is on site and has conducted the investigation.

“They are now trying to source the materials needed for the repairs. Unfortunately, there is no estimated time for restoration at this stage. However, I have received assurance from the department that they will do their utmost to restore electricity to residential areas by late afternoon or this evening,” she said.

The councillor added that more information will be shared once it becomes available.
