Elderly home continues to give the Advertiser’s Winter Wool Drive a boost

Anyone wishing to donate wool to Yvonne and her fellow residents can phone 011 915 5416; drop-offs are also appreciated.

Yvonne Pohl (86), of Cosmos Old Age Home, continues to devote her time and energy to knitting items for donation to the less fortunate.

With the assistance of other elderly residents at the home, they recently donated 1 000 beanies to charity homes and other items to the Advertiser’s Winter Wool Drive.

For Pohl, knitting and donating to the less fortunate is what she loves doing to make a difference in the lives of others.

“Since I moved into the house 10 years ago, I’ve been doing this. I used to sit and do nothing until I decided to sew and make a difference. Since I began, I have received positive feedback from the general public, for which I am grateful.

“I don’t just knit for charities; I also knit for people who stay here, it is a passion,” said Pohl.
Pohl highlighted that she would appreciate it if people would donate coloured wool because she cannot see the darker ones.

“If people have wool and don’t use it, they can give it to us and we will continue the work with love,” Pohl said.

The Advertiser thanked Cosmos and Pohl for their continued support of the Winter Wool Drive.
