Ray of Hope Foundations treats senior citizens
The elderly were reminded that they are valuable.
Ray of Hope Foundations recently hosted a heart-warming event for senior citizens at the Reiger Park Methodist Church in Reiger Park.
The event was aimed at celebrating the seniors in the community and they were treated to a special meal and an afternoon of entertainment.
Sandra Allies, one of the organisers, shared her reflections on the day: “It was about treating our seniors with love. The turnout was very good, and our seniors were extremely happy. We wanted to ensure they felt appreciated and valued.”
The event included a variety of activities, ensuring that the seniors had an enjoyable and meaningful experience.
One of the highlights was a ‘best dance’ competition and there were lucky draws.
Sandra emphasised the importance of recognising age as a privilege and reminded everyone present that, as seniors, they are cherished and important members of society.
“We want to remind them that they are not just older, but valuable. They deserve to be treated with respect and love.”
She thanked everyone who contributed to the success of the event.
“This includes Apostle Sandy Booysen, Nathan Allies, Sister Hazel and her team from Germiston who did the sugar and blood pressure tests, Gladys, Lorraine, Shaylene, Shakespeare, community development representatives and GBV workers.”
Guests Dingaan Tshabalala, Jane Mbonyana and Paul Sabisa expressed their gratitude for being able to attend the event.
“This event means a lot to us,” they said.
