Young athlete sprints in to help SPCA

She spent time at the shelter on April 2 handing out treats to the dogs and cats.

The Boksburg SPCA thanked young Parkrand middle and long-distance prospect Kai Hattingh after she donated to the animal shelter.

Kai recently landed a sponsorship from SUPERSPAR Southern in Germiston and the retail gives her R1 000 for every race she wins. The money will be donated to a charity of her choice.

The youngster won the Proton Overkruin Beast 5km race in Pretoria on March 29. She donated the money from her sponsor to Boksburg SPCA because of her love for animals.

She spent time at the shelter on April 2 handing out treats to the dogs and cats.

“Her love, kindness and compassion for animals shone throughout the day. Thank you to her for her generous donation which will make a difference in the lives of many animals in need,” said shelter manager Vicky Finnemore.

Kai’s next race is the Benoni Northerns Marathon on April 13. She will participate in the 5km.
