Despite the turnout being lower than expected, the Rotary Club of Benoni van Ryn’s recent market at Laerskool Westwood on May 26 was a vibrant celebration of community, creativity and connection.

The market featured an impressive variety of unique and high-quality stalls, offering everything from handmade crafts to delicious treats.

Visitors were treated to live music by the fantastic local band 60 Shades of Grey, whose performance kept the mood lively and festive throughout the day.

Attendees could also enjoy target shooting and paintball activities.

The atmosphere was warm and upbeat, with vendors and attendees alike enjoying the opportunity to engage in a relaxed, family-friendly setting.

“We were disappointed with the number of feet through the gate, but incredibly proud of the joyful spirit, beautiful stalls, and wonderful entertainment that defined the day. The feedback we received from those who attended was overwhelmingly positive,” said past president Charmaine Cole-Niven.

The Rotary Club is already reviewing feedback and working closely with stakeholders to ensure future markets attract the crowd the event deserves.

“We’ve identified the areas that need adjustment and are committed to growing the market into a must-visit event on the community calendar,” added Cole-Niven.
All proceeds from the market go directly to the club’s community service projects, meaning every purchase made on the day helps uplift and support those in need.
