Two family members killed in Boksburg house fire

The pair died after being trapped inside a burning house.

Two people, a toddler and a man, died in a house fire that broke out in the early hours of this morning corner of Brickfield Road and Jupiter Street in Vosloorus, Boksburg.

According to Ekurhuleni’s Disaster and Emergency Services (DEMS) spokesperson, William Ntladi, the Zonkizizwe fire station’s emergency response team responded to the incident around 05:00 – after receiving a call about family members who were trapped in a burning house.

“Firefighters found the house well alight and immediately started their firefighting operation. While conducting search and rescue operation, the charred bodies of the toddler and a man were recovered inside the burnt house.

The Gauteng EMS declared the pair dead at the scene.

Ntladi added that the cause of the fire is still being investigated. Authorities were on site conducting preliminary investigations.
