A recent fire that ravaged a 12-roomed house in Lillianton caused extensive damage to the structure and left one person hospitalised for smoke inhalation.
According to William Ntladi, spokesperson for the City of Ekurhuleni’s Disaster and Emergency Management Services (DEMS), the department received the emergency call at 13:25 on July 8.
“Upon arrival, first responders found the multi-tenant residence engulfed in flames, with a large portion of the roof having already collapsed.

“Due to the scale of the fire, additional backup was summoned. Firefighters deployed three attack lines from fire engines to suppress the flames effectively, while two water tankers were brought in to ensure a continuous water supply,” said Ntladi.
The fire was brought under control without further structural damage or additional injuries reported.
Ntladi said the cause of the fire remains undetermined and is currently under investigation.
