Cansa need you to ‘Jail a Victim’
Residents are encouraged to get involved, nominate their colleagues or friends and help create a memorable, feel-good event that supports Cansa’s life-saving work.
In a spirited effort to raise awareness and funds for the Cancer Association of South Africa (Cansa), Sport Against Crime will host a lively visibility and fundraising drive on October 16.
The Jail a Victim event, which will take place at K90 Centre from 09:00 to 14:00, is hosted in collaboration with the Boksburg North SAPS, Legendary Guardians, and the local CPF.
As part of the initiative, the public is encouraged to nominate a “victim” to be “arrested” and “jailed”, all in the name of charity. Charges can include comical “offences”, such as drinking too much coffee, always arriving late, being overly friendly or spending too much time online.
Each “arrest” comes with a R250 fine, which will directly support Cansa’s work.
Once the fine is paid, the “accused” is released with a certificate and, no doubt, a few laughs.
“We’re looking for individuals based in the Boksburg North policing precinct who are up for a laugh and willing to support a vital initiative. The idea is to bring the community together for a great cause while having some fun.
“We decided to support Cansa because of the good work they do,” said Chris Batts of Sport Against Crime and Radio Hi 5 Stereo.
The day promises fun and laughter and a vital reminder of the impact cancer has on so many lives and the crucial role of communities in supporting those affected.
